These are the instructions to create my Film Poster.
I have shown you what I have done to create my poster Behind the door. You can try some of these techniques.
Genre: Horror
Title: Behind the Door
Tag line: Once you see it, it's too late
My Example: I added the following PNG's and textures to the Base Image

The base image

We started with the base image and added the png's and atmospheres to the photograph.
We create atmosphere and Mood with filters and layer effects.

Photoshop techniques used for the image:
Dodge and Burn Tool (Shadows, using a large brush) to darken the image (increases the glow from the light of the door and darken the shadow) This is a distructive technique. It will destroy your image.
To achieve it in a none-distructive way and make adjustments you can use an adjustment layer (choose Curves and Darken) make sure your brush is soft and has some hardness but you can't see the lines when you start to darken and lighten your image. See link for how to do this. How to Dodge and Burn in Photoshop
Newspaper: Used transform tool, Perspective to make it look like it is placed on the floor.
Smoke Overlay (layer effect screen and opacity 72%) This removes the black background by making it appear transparent.
Cracked glass (layer effect Normal)
Bullet Holes in the wall (Layer effect Colour Dodge) use your judgement here as it depends on the darkeness of your base photo. I duplicated the layer and added a couple in the wall rotating them.
