Creating interesting Titles for your trailer

Writer's picture: Andrea BeardsworthAndrea Beardsworth

Having a GREAT brand identity for your film trailer and your publicity is important. WeVideo has basic titles but how can we make them more interesting?

An example is below:

This title has been created on FlexClip (You can sign up for free but you can only use the non-watermarked assets but it is worth doing) You can export your video and upload it into WeVideo and use it as a video clip in your edit.

Why do this?

  • More creative assets and overlays

  • A load more typefaces and fonts to use

  • Plenty of inspiration and templates

  • A lot more options in motion and typeface effects

Other ways of creating titles? Using Photoshop and a clipping mask.

Download the font you want to use and install, Open Photoshop and find your font. Type your title and then download the texture and add in a layer. Right click on the layer and choose create a clipping mask. You can arrange your background image to look how you want it through the Text and then export your final title as a PNG with a transparent background. You can use this in WeVideo as an asset.

Blog post *here* that gives you detailed information and links to textures.

Original Font Before: Gimme Danger on Dafont

Font After with a Clipping Mask using a Concrete texture

Font After with a clipping Mask using a Gunge Metal texture

Why do this?

  • You can use a full range of typefaces from DaFont

  • You can create any texture you want as long as you have the background

  • You can also use your final title in your print and merchandising material (Film Poster, Publicity Pack etc)

  • You can create movement in WeVideo
